Stitch-School was co-founded in 2017 by Melanie Bowles and Aimee Betts whose aim is to provide professional and inspirational guidance to reconnect to the benefits of embroidery through embroidery kits,  workshops and community events around the large communal table embroidery called The Supper Cloth.

Stitch-School's beautifully designed contemporary embroidery kits inspire the study of embroidery stitches with a playful approach for all ages to enjoy the art of needlework. The  first kit the A-Z of Embroidery was launched at The Barbican Make! Season of Contemporary Crafts and provides the foundation of embroidery stitches. Each letter of the alphabet has its own individual embroidery technique ready to practice. The alphabet is printed onto a linen sampler and accompanied with an instruction book illustrating each stitch.

Stitch-School runs regular workshops  teaching the skills of embroidery based around the Stitch-School embroidery kits, providing inspirational  support through social media, building communities and sharing textile narratives.

They facilitate exciting community events around The Supper Cloth which bring people together through stitching and slow conversation around the large needlework table stretched with linen. Collaborating with venues such as Barbican Center Make! Season of contemporary crafts, Somerset House, Brixton Design Trail at Squires Partners, Brixton Library funded by Cultural Seed funding, Peckham Festival and Time Out to provide wonderful environments for people to gather, share and learn embroidery to co-create a communal sampler celebrating the art of needlework and being together. Each Supper Cloth is themed to the event and environment. Contact us here for more information.
