Fun Florals
Join Melanie in this 3 hour workshop explore stitches for florals.
Melanie encourages playful approach to learn and explore a range of embroidery stitches, playing with colour, texture and mark making. Build a repertoire of stitches to express ideas with thread and colour.
Embroidery is a peaceful and creative pastime that fosters relaxation, refection and slowness as well as equipping one with life skills for mending, self expression with customisation for garments and projects.
Materials and embroidery instruction booklet included.
Skills you will gain
A range of routine and fill stitches
Examples of creative stitch samplers and Stitch-School community cloths
How to transfer motifs to fabric ready to stitch
Conversation for how to develop your skills for personal project
About your teacher
Tutor Melanie Bowles is the founder of Stitch-School and is passionate about the benefits of embroidery within communities and for individuals, and has worked on numerous community projects bringing people together through stitching and shared narratives. Her clients include the V&A, the Barbican Centre, Oxfam, Alexander McQueen, and Marie Curie. Her recent practice focuses on reflecting, extending, and building new narratives with cloth through stitching and embroidery.
